Household Staff - Guardian / caretaker

For a large holiday property located in a coastal resort and village between Cannes and St. Raphael, primarily used by the principals and their family, guests, and friends throughout the year, EDMAR Int. is looking for a highly experienced domestic couple.


The property serves as a holiday home for a family of up to 10 people, including 3 children, mainly used for family holidays for approximately 4 months each year.
Local staff may be employed during busy holiday periods to supplement the domestic couple’s efforts if necessary.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Housekeeping:
– Thorough cleaning and maintenance of all rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas.
– Laundry and ironing. • Cooking:
– Preparation of meals to a dinner party standard or a willingness to learn. • Driving:
– Transportation responsibilities, including airport runs, shopping, restaurant trips, etc. • Hospitality:
– Welcoming and serving guests with a high level of professionalism.
• Coordination:
– Liaison with service providers and suppliers.
• Maintenance:
– General maintenance of the property, including external care of gardens, grounds, pool, and terraces.
– Interior DIY tasks.
• Gardening:
– Gardening duties, possibly including replanting and ongoing garden maintenance.
• Boat Maintenance:
– Maintenance of the property’s boat, with a boat license being an advantage but not essential.
• Security and Safety:
– Ensuring the security and safety of the property.


• Fluency in both French and English is essential.
• Previous private house experience is mandatory.
• Confidence in cooking skills.
• Boat license is a significant advantage.
• Valid driver’s license is essential.
• Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and extended hours when the family is in residence.
• Salary negotiable based on previous experience.
• Self-contained 1-bedroom flat attached to the main house with its own outside space provided.
• Ideally, both members of the couple should be able to drive.
• Good command of English, and at least one member should be fluent in French.
• Essential qualities include honesty, loyalty, commitment to the job at all times, and excellent communication skills.
